General Information2007–2008 OSTP Policies and FeesEnrolling in ClassesWorkshop enrollments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats at workshops are limited, and are only reserved if your fee accompanies the enrollment form. Enrollments are not accepted over the telephone, but may be submitted by fax, mail or online. Once you have enrolled, a detailed confirmation will be mailed to your address. This confirmation will provide exact location and map, times and what to bring to the workshop, as well as payment information. Certificates of AttendanceAttendance is required at all sessions of each workshop to receive a Certificate of Attendance. A copy of the certificate must be provided to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency if you wish to receive credit for continuing education. You may mail or fax the certificate to Jane Seaver. Fax (651) 297-8676. SchedulingPlan your classes accordingly. Pre-certification and continuing education courses are each offered only a few times a year throughout the State. Most locations are rotated by region, while some courses are in fixed locations each year. Late EnrollmentsEnroll by the deadline to avoid the $40 late fee and to guarantee your place at the workshop. It helps us plan for course materials and refreshments. If you enroll late or at the door on the day of the workshop (if space allows), a $40 late fee will be added to the workshop price. There will be no exceptions! Substitutions and TransfersSubstituting another person for your enrollment fee or transferring to another workshop must be requested before the day of the workshop. A $20 substitutions or transfer fee will be charged for each change to the enrollment. Substitutions or transfers must be received in writing at the OSTP office by the business day prior to the workshop. CancellationsCancellations will be accepted through the last business day before the workshop. A $20 cancellation fee applies. After that time, refunds are not issued. Cancellations must be in writing. “No Shows”We reserve space for paid attendees. If you don’t cancel and do not attend, we can’t offer your space to anyone else. If you do not cancel and do not show up, you are still responsible for the enrollment payment. No exceptions! 2007–2008 OSTP ChangesBecause of a recent change in the Minnesota Plumbing Code that states that beginning Dec. 1, 2007, only people who are licensed plumbers, registered apprentices, or those who are certified with pipelayer training and have a $25,000 plumbing code compliance bond may install sewer or water service pipes anywhere in Minnesota, we have increased the opportunities for SSTS professionals to earn their pipelayer certification:
There will be a new pre-certification course for Service Providers that offers an in-depth look into the care of all system types. This course is based on the National O&M Service Provider materials and will include a field component at the Singing Hills Girl Scout Camp. It is intended for system pumper/maintainers, designers or MPCA-certified operators that need training for soil-based system management.
For several reasons, including new requirements and course curriculum evolution, UMN OSTP has adjusted the length of some courses.
There are a few uncertainties surrounding the MR 7080 Revision going into the 2007–2008 Workshop Season. For that reason, our team decided not to offer the Advanced Designer series until 2008–2009.
You may notice that there is an option to enroll in “Combo Courses” this year. It is our intent to bring you the best education at the lowest possible cost. For this reason, we have provided some discounts to folks that may want or need to take extra courses this season. Look for:
